We love these things and install them throughout the house. They hold up well, are easy to assemble and are heavy. If applying to regular latex painted drywall, try the following technique: 1) Wash your hands with soap and water. 2) Clean dirt from the wall surface and wipe with 91% alcohol. If you have a heavy texture, try flattening it out first. 3) Peel off the plastic part of the clip on the wall of the hook where the sticky pad goes. Hold the two parts of the hook together. Don't leave oily fingerprints on the back. 4) Apply glue to the hook from the side of the hook and align the tongue so that it is pointing down towards the ground. Carefully align it so that the adhesive strip covers the entire surface of the lining. 5) Attach the hook to the wall, aligning the hooks exactly how you want. 6) Carefully remove the hook from the wall mount (gently pull up from the side of the hook). This will expose the plastic wall bracket that is sticking to the wall. 7) Press the clip STRONGLY against the wall for 20-30 seconds. Try to remove all air bubbles. This gives you a very strong connection to the wall. To remove, remove the hook portion (pull up) and then slowly pull the tab down. The pillow comes off the wall. A note: be very careful when removing the hook from the wall mount. I pushed too hard and cut my finger on the sharp plastic of the wall bracket. I don't see that as a disadvantage at all. It was everything I was clumsy. just be careful
