I know a lot of artists and beginners (like me) have problems with latex getting on their brushes and breaking them, I haven't had that problem, I have a special bar of ivory soap in a special Plastic kitchen containers. I put drops of water on the soap first, and when I need it, it's ready. Take out the soap up to the ferrule. I think the key is to wash out the brush often and reapply the soapy mass, then add the latex and draw the line. I've been doing this for years and it doesn't seem to damage my brushes. I've also found that if you paint with latex that isn't completely dry, the latex will come off your brushes. This is a great product if you prep your brushes well and often, then making sure they are as clean as possible. Don't leave latex on your brushes for any reason, unless you want to work with ammonia and a needle to pick out little balls of latex! Diluting with ammonia also works well if it gets too thick, but don't make it too thin and runny.
