I needed a quiet fan for work; So I bought a cheap USB desktop fan; too loud, after a few months the engine stalled. I decided to try this one because it says it's quiet. airflow is good; two speeds and connection to a USB port; Great! But the noise? It's as loud as an electric massager; hair clippers or similar. I'm still looking for a "quiet" fan, but I probably just need to find a reputable brand or larger fan that doesn't try to spin a tiny plastic blade like I do at the hair salon while waiting for that my ears do need to be trimmed. .
