Finally a serial cable that works!

I think you get what you pay for, it was more than similar items found at auctions for less money. The big difference is that this one works!. As radio amateurs, we all mourned the loss of the once ubiquitous serial port. While there are a lot of cheap Chinese cables out there, they used cloned chips that may or may not work with drivers and software. I plugged it in, installed the drivers, and assigned 16, 17, 18, and 19 serial ports. I'm using a navigator interface that uses a few ports below. I could have reassigned each of them via the control panel but left them as is. I have a serial to CT converter for my Icom on the 16, a Harris modem on the 17, a GPS enabled oscillator on the 18, and a home antenna patch panel on the 19, all of which work with all my various software . HRD, MARS ALE, comms terminal, 110A, hardware via Harris and software. ETC. I no longer pull my hair out every time a Windows update restarts me! What is the difference between genuine FTDI chips and non-Chinese fake drivers? -Fred W4JLE
