As an electrician I don't use a carpenter's pencil much, but I do take notes that I need to erase from time to time, but not often enough to keep a regular pencil and sharpener with me. I grabbed this because it reduced my need for a sharpener and saved me worrying about the wear and tear of carrying it in a tool belt. I wasn't expecting much from cartridge nibs, I thought they were like normal mechanical pencils that I would click 3 or 4 times with when writing on paper, but these nibs are strong, I've used them for all my marking. and I didn't have to change the first tip within the month I had it. Then find a second pencil that's also full of tips, and you'll get a bunch more spare tips. I'm sure I'll lose those two mechanical pencils before I can dream of using those tips. For me this is a win-win purchase. I can't speak for carpenters, but from what I've seen they even miss it - just old dogs who can't learn new tricks. I will soon give another pencil to a carpenter friend of mine. A company that my company often works with and in a few months I will report on how much he likes or dislikes it. the advice they give you. I feel like I have to send them another $5 so I don't feel like I'm ripping them off blindly. The value of this pencil is endless. (Although I have to admit I discovered this because the LED tip fell off during use, this might be a problem for people used to regular carpenter's pencils). Oh, and my carpenter friend loves and loves it. He keeps it and uses it because it leaves a clear, razor-thin mark every time. but he cannot use it for writing due to the shape of the tip.
