I used this to mount a Garmin GPS to a motorcycle. The device mounts fairly loosely (much looser than the Garmin mount I use in my car). The device "hung" on the sphere so that it could not be read. I solved this problem by adjusting the mount so that the device "rests" on the sphere in a position where I can read it while driving. It's worth hitting even a slight nudge, however, as the device will disconnect and fall. This happened several times during the 400 km journey. If the device falls off its mount in a car, it simply hits the dashboard. On a motorcycle, however, there is nothing under the handlebars to "hook" it on. Luckily for me, the power cord held the device up until I stopped and plugged it back in, but that was never to happen. I will look for another bike mount, this is junk.
