We bought this coat for our short haired dog who needed to keep warm in the cold temperatures we are already experiencing this season. We previously bought a knitted sweater for a dog but had issues with the sizing and fit. While we can easily cover the full length of the dog, girth becomes an issue as the dog is very thin. Since this dog coat wraps around and fastens with Velcro, I figured this might be what we need. It ended up being too big in girth, which I solved fairly easily by removing the velcro and rearranging the pieces in a better place. Now we can put a sweater under this coat that fits perfectly. If it's not that cold, we throw away the sweater underneath and it still fits. This is especially helpful when it rains, as the weatherproof upper wicks water away and keeps the dog dry. We've received many compliments from friends and neighbors on how beautifully our dog wears this coat!
