Nice little unit - cheap but probably worth the price

The Chinese are launching more and more new gizmos, some of them are useful and practical. I recently noticed that there is a new label called Retrekess. Although cassette tapes aren't state of the art, some of us oldies have accumulated a lot of old cassettes, both pre-recorded and ones that we've recorded "off the air" in the past - I've been the biggest fan of "A Prairie Home Companion" in the known universe, and I have many of these programs that I enjoy listening to from time to time. I ordered one of these units and it plays cassettes well. (I haven't tried using it for writing - I'll write another review if I have any issues with it, I assume it's working fine for writing for now.). One problem I have is that the radio function is pretty poor on AM - it picks up a few local AM stations but the rest of the AM band only picks up AC noise - STRONG noise. It works well on FM, although the selectivity is not very good. The construction doesn't look very solid; When charging two AA cells for power supply, a person should be very careful. I think it can be easily damaged if you don't do this. But it's probably worth what I paid for it.

Pros
  • tape recorder; Insert a blank cassette and press the record button to record external speech or radio sound; There is a 3.5mm AUX jack on the side. For recording, you can conveniently connect a 3.5mm microphone or an AUX date cable
Cons
  • I'll write later
