I've read a lot of reviews about how weak the pen is but I don't see it. The handles are strong enough, I've used them about a dozen times and never worried that they would break. I extended it to the maximum and used it like that without any problems. This brush is ideal to speed up the car wash. I also use it on boat and RV. split bristles, very soft at the end like my other brushes so I don't see a problem with it scratching the surface of something if you use a lot of sudsy soapy water.
