Bought these for my almost 2 year old as he likes to help out in the kitchen. They're blunt enough that picking them up on the wrong edge, accidentally stabbing them, or even applying light pressure to the edge of the knife won't hurt. Slicing or moderate pressure and they work great with softer or easier to slice foods (celery, peaches, bread). They're a little big for my son, but he's growing in them quickly. This is a great solution for him to be able to compete under supervision/assistance without fear of a miss hurting him. They cut well enough that I've used them for fruit myself with no problem. They wash well although I hand wash them.
