Review on πŸ’§ GE GXRM10RBL Reverse Osmosis Filtration System by Jesus Baker

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The brass part of the air gap check valve has broken 5 times in the last 3-4 years! All other parts work perfectly. I would stay away from GE faucets

In short. I've owned this device for about 3-4 years now and have had problems with it for the first few months. I got too carried away with it and it took too long to install to switch to something else, so I saved it and figured it out. Actually, I just bought this unit again to use for spares that I know will break in the future. This is mainly the inside of the faucet (the brass part of the air gap that drains excess water into the drain line during production). This thing will leak if it breaks, even if it's new and fully functional. it's terrible. I only contacted GE to purchase an "air gap" brass part, but they don't just sell this brass part. They wanted me to buy the whole faucet for $75 or just the base for $40. I had a better idea and ordered a different brand Avanti Air Gap reverse osmosis faucet, model number RF888A-CP. I haven't installed it yet, but something has to be better than the crappy faucet that GE came with their device. I give this whole device 2 stars because it has provided my family with clean water for the last 3-4 years. Even with the frustration of a leaking brass air gap piece, over and over and over again. and again. I had to empty the bucket under the sink daily because too much excess water ran down the hose. I even went as far as taking the faucet apart, taking out the brass air gap and filling it with epoxy to ensure the brass will remain intact and not crack or corrode for years to come. But no, it worked. like a magnet, and the trickle that fell through the air gap now flowed everywhere but down the drain. If this new Avanti faucet I bought works with this device as I have read I will be very happy. No thanks GE. I would like to say that this GE GXRM10RBL system is very good value for money and that is why I chose it. Filters for this range are commercially available or available from Revain. My record for a hassle-free filter change is 1 hour 45 minutes, so brace yourself. They recommend changing 2 water filters every 6 months but that is overkill, you can do this from 9 months to a year. Nowhere does it say when to change the reverse osmosis filter. I guess I'm overdue for this. After working with this device for 3-4 years, I feel I deserve a diploma in Plumbing and Reverse Osmosis Installation. Good luck and if you buy this device save yourself the headache and buy another faucet to work with this device. Just make sure the new device has a built in air gap like the Avanti RF888A-CP. Good luck and drink clean water!
