I have used many Linksys/Cisco routers in the past but due to overheating and replacement issues I have tried to find something else. Reading reviews online, the AC1900 turned out to be a top contender, with all the features you need today and in the future at a great price. The router arrived and I unpacked and plugged it in. Right off the bat, the router gave out both wireless and wired IP addresses to my machines; however, he had many problems connecting to a Cisco cable modem provided by Charter Internet Services. I hooked my computer up to a charter modem and was able to connect through it, but as soon as I put a router between my computer and the modem, nothing worked. The router didn't get an IP address like the computer did when I connected it. I tried many fixes like resetting the router and restarting the modem and router many times but nothing worked. I then called their support team and was put through to a support specialist almost immediately. She went through many of the same steps I did and then waited for me to speak to Charter to see if the problem was on her side. We got a modem reset on the charter site and again went through numerous router reboots and it finally connected. She was very accommodating despite the language/pronunciation barrier and spent almost an hour on the phone to get the issue resolved. Now that it is up and running, the speed and connectivity from both wired and wireless connections is very high. I transferred large files to test both speeds (wired and wireless) and also connected to speedtest.net to compare Wi-Fi and wired connections and I have to say I was impressed. Wireless was only 10% slower than wired when downloading and gave me even faster download speeds. I know it has to do with the traffic through Charter as well as the server they use for testing, but it was nice to see both are so fast. At the moment the device has been running for a day and I say I do it like this. On the configuration page, it was easy to change things like the admin and Wi-Fi passwords, as well as the broadcast ID. It also gave me a quick overview of what was connected and various other customization items I needed. I will definitely consider the TrendNet router again if I ever need it. I hope this device lasts a long time and I love the three year warranty that comes with the device.
