Washing village for bed linen

I liked these sheets from the pack. They were soft to the touch and matched our folding mattress, but I washed them in cold water and tumble dried on low and they shrunk in the wash! Now my extra mattress doesn't lie flat and that really annoys me. The sheets are good enough, but why not use pre-shrunk cotton?
