I then carefully added water manually from a bucket over the course of a week (avoiding sediment) and was shocked when the pH was 8.4 this weekend (100g system and planned to slowly rise over 2-3 weeks to increase). . That was about 2 months ago and since then I've been able to support 8.3 the way I hoped. It seems that finding that sweet spot in your stats really increases SPS growth to the point where you can literally see the months getting bigger every day instead of weekly. Highly recommended, but for the love of your aquarium, use less than you think necessary and do it slowly.
