Review on ACDelco GM Original Equipment 15-11006: Engine Coolant Thermostat & Housing Assembly – Efficient Performance and Durability by Jacob Kuntz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OE part. - Engine Cooling and Climate Control

Was an accurate factory part for a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer with an inline 6 cylinder engine. It's quite difficult to install, but I can't fault the seller for that. I've seen a lot of videos on You Tube about how to replace this and unfortunately most of the time the videos make it more difficult and you parse a lot more than necessary. Jack up the vehicle briefly, place it on the stand and remove the left/left wheel. Disconnect the negative pole of the battery. Remove the timing belt but leave it on all the pulleys except the alternator (it is not necessary to remove it completely). Remove the front lift bracket from the top of the generator. Remove the alternator bolts, but they may remain loose in the alternator holes. Tilt the generator slightly forward and hold it with a guy rope, a piece of wood or something else. Loosen the spring clip on the thermostat housing and collect the coolant in a clean pan for reuse. Now remove the long extension and universal connecting rod and bushing through the wheel arch, remove the top and bottom fasteners and remove the housing. Refit in reverse order, making sure to add coolant and bleed all air. It's tedious and takes some time, but it's not difficult. It has been installed about 5,000 miles with no problems and the price is very low. the best I've found.
