You must be careful when installing these rivets.
I am new to leather fittings, this could be the problem. I found I had to repeat them after the first attempt resulted in slightly deformed rivets. The rivet halves must be perfectly centered with the tools or you will end up with a crooked (imperfect) rivet. I don't think it's a manufacturer fault.
