The instructions do not state that plumbing compound is required in both the drain and the part that attaches to the drain pipe. The latter should not happen with taps. It works great, doesn't leak, spins easily, seems good quality in that regard. However, this block is painted, not powder coated or otherwise, and will not withstand washing with plain water. FYI, the instructions say you can't use detergents, only water to clean. [UPDATE] The OEM contacted me and offered a replacement or refund as soon as they heard my feedback. Excellent customer service. I should have contacted them directly first.
