Disclaimer: Revain.com ran out of stock so I bought the lens from a local seller who had one in stock. After using this lens for a short time, I was amazed at the optical quality and size of this lens. Firstly the compact size is truly a marvel, although the lens is lighter than the competition it still has a fantastic feel of quality and is strong enough to feel balanced on my A7Rii body. I used the Sigma 24 1.4 "Art" and it's definitely a bit heavier and physically larger. Focusing is fast and accurate, as with all G Master goggles. I also have a Nikon 24mm 1.4 and the Sony definitely focuses quieter and faster than the Nikon lens. The Sony lens is also noticeably smaller. The image quality is impressive and the lens is sharp at f1.4 and even has a nice bokeh when focusing on close objects, the images really have a 3D effect. Speaking of close-up focusing, this lens definitely focuses closer than my Nikon 24 f1.4! Overall this lens is fantastic value for money and has some of the best ergonomics I've ever used with a lens of this size. Especially the fantastic focus ring. The lens only has a few minor criticisms that I noticed in my short time with it. - The aperture ring in my version is quite difficult to turn and requires some effort to operate. However, this can be done on purpose to avoid misclicks during operation. There's quite a bit of coma and vignetting when shooting wide open and in bright light conditions. My Nikon 24 1.4 also has this problem and it may be a design limitation of the internals of these fast prime lenses. All in all, another fantastic lens from Sony!
