My LO won a goldfish at our state fair. When we pulled the goldfish out, it had a beautiful seaweed-like thing sticking out of its side. As the first goldfish owners, we didn't think about it. A week later, where something was sticking out, a large bump formed, from which a white substance began to ooze. Our goldfish also started swimming erratically. After some research on the internet I found out that our goldfish had an anchor worm. We did three microbial lift treatments, changing 25% of the water with each treatment, and our anchorworm problem was gone. We saw immediate results after the first week and by the third treatment the anchorworm had fallen off and the hole in our goldfish's side had healed. I've seen some recommendations for removing an anchor worm with tweezers, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. We left it attached and let the product kill the anchor worm. My only complaint is that you use the smallest amount for each treatment but the only option is to buy this huge bottle which doesn't come cheap. I would like the option to purchase a smaller bottle. I'm glad the product worked, but I have plenty left and hopefully won't have to use it again.
