Bought a swing for my son who is almost 4 --- bought a pair of knot straps and carabiners from Revain and a chain from a local hardware store --- and here is a toy that he rides for hours during the day. Adults can ride them too, but for some reason our swing time isn't as long as his. Although it may seem mundane and trivial, for a child around 4 years old, a swing has a few advantages over a traditional swing seat: developing motor skills. The swing itself has a wide base, which allows it to rise and fall independently, ride in various positions (including standing), and move between positions while moving. He thinks it's funny, and it is, but the swing also helps him understand his mobility, which isn't found anywhere else. EDIT: Two and a half years later, the swing is still in very good condition. The webbing is still good and the foam protection is still in place and shows little wear. No problem that it falls apart. The swing gets a lot of compliments as it is unique and my child's friends enjoy riding it too. EDIT 2: It's 2020 and the swing still holds on after all these years. The band is in very good condition. The foam has lost its luster but is still in good shape. During this time, the swing was never filmed and they survived in Texas for many years. The four-year-old is already grown and has made the move to basketball, but mom and dad try to substitute for each other on spring and fall nights from time to time.
