Windows Device Manager looked fine, I could see "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port ". Electronics
I bought two modems and neither worked. and in a laptop running Ubuntu 16.04. I followed the instructions: downloaded and installed the PL2303 driver. Windows Device Manager looked fine, I could see "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)". However, I could not send AT commands to the router with PUTTY, the terminal window hung, with Ubuntu the dmesg command
