UNSURE! (Bought for MICE)

I bought this for two mice. They are happily housed in a huge glass tank (aquarium). This saucer design has 2 problems: 1) The base, which is 3 pinned plastic pieces, sinks into its confetti (which we keep at least 4 inches and the mice of course build up some areas heavily). deeper. I didn't think it would be a problem when used over confetti since it's quite strong/thick and mice are such small and light creatures. but even when i tried to grab the area it didn't help. could possibly try to attach it to some sort of platform that would hold securely onto the confetti, but the second question was/is a safety issue and ultimately why we brought it back for the wide base saucer (it's an extra $2 !) The saucer is NOT attached to the base AT ALL (it just sits on a small piece of metal that allows it to rotate; nothing to secure or secure it) so it will tip over if moved or rotated , and then falls down (any time) . once), making it not only unsafe but ultimately useless. I'm not sure about that since we've always used a different type of saucer for all of our rodents that live in tanks (as opposed to cages), but even if we had a properly working saucer, the base for everything is bad suitable except for a flat, non-slip, absolutely flat surface. I was trying to save just $2 (kicking myself), in this case it's worth spending a little more for a safe and reliable product!
