good quality lid. They WILL NOT tear - I've tried! And they don't sound harsh. They are somewhat soft - as soft as a flat fleece can be. They don't claim to be waterproof and they aren't. They are water repellent to a certain extent. I tested it before use, cutting the corner off one sheet to avoid wasting the whole sheet. I put a drop of water on it and it stayed on the paper and didn't soak in UNTIL the second I moved the paper a little. And then immediately absorbed and left the other side. So it would be good if you could catch the liquid right away and suck it out quickly. There is something about water repellency that has to be based on surface tension and the moment the surface tension is broken the liquid is absorbed. In general, I like that they're almost impossible to tear (actually I haven't succeeded, but I think in some situations when the heel or screw first pierces a hole that could potentially tear). I like that they are quiet.
