Fixed Detachable Kayak Rack

I bought this rack to carry 3 kayaks and it works very well (after purchasing the optional J-Racks kit for the 3rd kayak). Buckling them all up is a bit fiddly, but better than buying a really expensive roof rack. Supplied with enough C-Clamps to use 2 on each side of each bar for extra stability. I probably wouldn't trust him to clamp with one set per bar, but since there are 2 sets in the set, that's not a problem. I haven't had it that long and it shows rust in a few small spots but I can live with it as I can remove it and it's a lot cheaper than similar items or real roof bars. Each rod has spikes on each side so you can wrap the loose ends of the straps if you don't want to cut them. J-Racks are attached to round bars so they tend to twist a bit, but any round bar will have that. The straps that come with the kit don't seem to be good so I bought others with a protective pad so they don't scratch the finish of my boats. This easily fits two of my 14ft and one 12ft kayak. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money hauling their kayaks. Speed limit of 80 mph, strong cross winds possible. I attached the post with 2 clips per side per bar (4 clips total per bar) and it was rock solid. I've never had stability problems. We towed two 14ft kayaks and one 12ft kayak and never used bow or stern slings, only straps through the J pillars and cable locks for security, and neither the prop nor the boats ever budged. This turned out to be a good buy.
