I read some reviews before buying this piston. I've read reviews about rusting and not working and I don't seem to have this problem. I bought two of these. One was for a full bath and the other for a half bath. The one in the half-bath was constantly splashed with water from the shower. The exterior of this item has not rusted or changed appearance in the last few weeks. As for the rust on the inside of the lid, I expect rust. If you've ever had a toilet brush like this, you wouldn't notice the inside of the lid rusting when water hits it. This happened with one of the bath and body works so I wouldn't judge this product on that. I really like that there is a small plastic cylinder inside this piston. The plastic part is at the bottom of the container so when you use the plunger, water will flow into the plastic part and you can easily pull it out and rinse it out. The only thing I don't think about about this piston is that it's very small. It worked for a small clog in our closet, but I think it would be wise to have a full-size plunger at home. This is a plunger that was probably only intended to be used by guests. Keep a full-size flask at home for your family to use.
