Review on Upgrade Your Ceiling Fan with the Zing Ear Pull Chain Switch ZE-268S6: Easy 3 Speed 4 Wire Control Replacement Switch for Enhanced Performance (Bronze) by Michael Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Didn't work for my Hunter fan, but it was my fault.

The switch arrived in good condition, my first workout was difficult to push through my wires. I found that having the ink stick disassembled helped release the tension (and helped me see alignment), after which I was able to insert the wire and pull out the ink stick's wedge. Unfortunately, that switch was a 1,2 + 3,3 switch that only worked in setting 3. Reading the review, I found that the orientation of L 1 2 3 vs L 3 2 1 (clockwise counterclockwise) on the Hunter fan made a difference on the old Switch. My old switch (pictured) rotated counter-clockwise. I put the colors on this switch in the same order and it only worked in position 3. You can't tell either, but the yellow and purple both come from the capacitor. The orange came from the derailleur (front-rear) and the black came straight from the stem. I bought another switch and it worked great. Note whether your counter numbers go clockwise or not. I ended up getting a ZING EAR 268S2 switch, but of course YMMV. I should have researched this more, but it didn't occur to me that a 4-way switch wouldn't be the standard switch for this application. After all, it was a relatively cheap mistake on my part, save for a couple of ridiculously hot nights without a ceiling fan.
