The wires on my Hunter fan were 1 purple, 1 red, and 2 black. I had to go through several videos and diagrams on Google but couldn't find a single match. Replacing the 3 speed shifter is easy. Remove the fan or cover with 3 screws. You can turn off the flashlight and put it aside. Unscrew the broken switch. Using a small flat head screwdriver, disconnect the 4 wires from the faulty switch by pushing and pulling on the wire. The new switch has L 1 2 3 L - black wire, 1 - orange, 2 - yellow, 3 - purple. Switch is supplied without documentation. I'm not an electrician and someone else did the installation. It was installed in a Hunter ceiling fan. The switch arrived in good condition, my first workout was difficult to push through my wires. I found that having the ink stick disassembled helped release the tension (and helped me see alignment), after which I was able to insert the wire and pull out the ink stick's wedge.
