I was finally able to install this toner cartridge in my HP LaserJet Pro M148dw MFP. My original HP cartridge was low and I needed to finish a large print job. The first clue that something was wrong was that the instructions that came with the cartridge didn't really match the cartridge itself (e.g. "remove the paper liner or remove the orange ring" when none such insert or ring is present). I kept going no matter what and following the instructions as best I could. Printing with this new cartridge was terrible. On the embedded photo in the Word document, the ink was smudged, and some lettering was inconsistent in both darkness and spacing (!). I have used the HP printhead cleaning software with no success. I printed out several copies hoping the problem would go away, but no. I took it out, shook it (according to the instructions) and put the cartridge back in, no joy. I decided to put my original almost empty HP cartridge back in and the result was perfect. It's not the printer, it's the cartridge. I don't see where I did anything wrong during the installation. Incidentally, I later noticed that there was black ink on the stand of my printer, probably from shaking the cartridge. Pooh. Do yourself a favor and find a genuine HP replacement, or at least a better third-party brand than them.
