This camera (Amcrest 8MP PoE Turret Style Varifocal Lens) is the highest quality camera in the Amcrest range (as far as I can find) and its image quality lives up to expectations. TLDR: If you're just looking for a great camera with an adjustable lens then I think this is a good option, especially if you can ask someone else to install it. I just installed two of these and a dome camera with similar capabilities. This was my first time installing PoE cameras, but I've installed cameras with battery and Wi-Fi power before. Based on my specific needs I needed a wired solution and the Power over Ethernet option seemed handy. Pulling the cable was easy, as was terminating it, being familiar with making my own drop cables. This is where "simple" ended. The physical installation of the cameras on the walls was borderline difficult and I'm quite confident in my abilities in this area. As you climb the stairs and try to put the pieces together and fasten them correctly, things get interesting despite the seemingly intuitive instructions and relatively few details. Despite the learning curve, I continued to wonder in the third chamber how something seemingly simple could turn out to be so painful. And after all that trouble, I'm pretty sure I'll need to make some adjustments to set it up properly. I connected these cameras to an Amcrest NVR and installed the hard drive myself (easy as pie). The NVR software is not intuitive. Your results will likely vary as my situation required installation without an internet connection or wireless router, making the mobile apps useless to me. Using a mouse (included with the NVR) and a monitor (sold separately), I applied just enough pressure to clear things up, but it wasn't quick or easy. I still have a few things to figure out (mirroring and mirroring not working as expected or as stated in the NVR app). Overall, given my specific needs, I found the above more annoying than difficult. But the pictures look great and the shots are pretty easy to browse. In the end I think this camera and the overall solution is pretty good (and it might have been better if it was connected to the internet and Wi-Fi to take advantage of various other ways to tweak the settings). But they don't make this particular camera in black which is amazing and even the support people couldn't tell me what mounts or junction boxes would work with this camera. These were the wrenches I had to grapple with, but I figured them out through guessing and testing (or, in this case, buying and returning).
