Disclaimer: This review was written before we actually used the lifejacket in the water. Bader (we think) Healer, GSP, Pitt mix. He is between 35 and 40 years old and is probably a foot and a half tall at the top of his shoulders. I ordered both medium and large. Both suit him perfectly. Since it's pretty sturdy for its build (it's heavier than it looks on its frame), we went with a big one, thinking it would offer more buoyancy. The life jacket seems well built and sturdy, but it's definitely not a life jacket I would go for. if we were on the water a lot or did deep sea activities or something like that. It seems perfect for the occasional trip to a small lake or calm river, or if you have a pool and your dog isn't a great swimmer. It's also very cute, but the little "tail" may not always stay up, especially when wet.
