I have curated several exhibitions created from scratch which have been viewed and traveled the world. I am also a working artist. I have used this tape extensively and almost exclusively to make mats with suitable backings (to place the art in frames and to keep the art secure when it needs to be taken out of the frame). It's acid-free, meaning creators know their art is being cared for. It cuts easily and stays clean. And I've never had a problem with the glue coming out of the edges. It is thin enough not to wedge with the boards and has enough "flex" that this is not a problem unless the mat has been cut 100% straight or the entire "package" is needed a little frame compression. It won't tear, but reduces cleaning when the rug loop needs to be separated. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION
