Great adapter to turn a cheap dumb fan into a smart one

Pros I bought 3 of these for 3 rooms on the second floor where the lights were wired directly to the mains (no switch access). They turned 3 $50 ceiling fans into $150+ models. Since the remotes connect when first turned on (and the button on the remote is held down for a few seconds), I had to take the remotes to the basement to connect. To my surprise, the consoles reached the fans at the lowest level. I also connected Wi-Fi at the same time, but I figured it's better to do Remote first, and then Wi-Fi. Problems: One problem I have with these remotes in general is that fan companies don't think to install them, so you have to make sure they fit the fan motor housing before buying a fan. I had to get creative. Also, there's no nice way to mount a wall plate to a US-standard backbox. I just bought a remote control holder and attached it to the metal lid of the build box with a magnet (not perfect), but so far it's working. When I finally tried to connect to my Smart Things app, it asked for a hub. This can be an issue with the app as it automatically connects to my Alexa, but this confused me.
