Review on 📷 Nikon COOLPIX P520 18.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 42x Zoom Lens and Full HD 1080p Video - Black (Previous Gen) by Joseph Hall

A few weeks ago my wife told me she wanted a more authentic camera. Neither of us are photographers, we have no real interest in photography. She wanted to be able to photograph the baby, the pets, and our activities in higher quality and resolution than her phone or our cheap compact cameras could provide. Also, when she prints them professionally, she wants them to look nice, without pixels or distortion. THE SEARCH BEGINS So Costco has Nikon DSLRs. I have a photographer friend who bought it and got good results and says it's a very good price. It's also $1,000. That's a bit too much for us because we don't even know where to start with such a camera. There are also high-end cameras that are probably pretty good as their MP numbers have increased a lot in recent years. The problem, however, is that they don't scale or don't scale very far. And once you use the digital zoom feature, your resolution drops drastically and you tend to lose image stabilization, making it almost impossible to get a blurry shot. In fact, I didn't know this line of cameras at all. I typed "digital camera" into the Amazon search engine and started browsing. I didn't get very far so I decided to look into Nikon's offerings as I had better quality Nikon film in my day and my friend only uses Nikon. The younger version of this camera was on the cover of " and if I ever find a use for this feature I will update this review. The body is heavy but not very heavy and feels good in the hands and looks really good overall. ZOOM: There's a little selector switch on the lens barrel that puts it in manual mode, which is a very nice feature. Haven't used it yet, but if I were a more professional photographer I'd see a need for it for faster action shots from a distance. The zoom on this camera is impressive. I'm so glad I bought the high end version with more zoom as you can shoot from a distance really easily. photos at the same time. The video is great, there is no other way to say it. I don't feel like I went for a combo device, that does no good. This camera seems to do everything well. The sound isn't the best, but it's a lot better than cell phone videos, that's all we need. FEATURES: Read the manual, there are a lot of them. To be honest I haven't even used half of it yet. But for capturing quality photos and videos, and with great zoom, this camera doesn't seem wrong. Also note that you cannot use filters with this camera as it is currently configured. However, the lens is threaded and they sell adapters that allow filters to be used. To be honest I don't have any experience in this field so I don't know if I ever will. OVERVIEW: This camera is more than enough for the average photographer.
