Review on πŸ’‘ APC Desk Mount Power Station PE6U21W, U-Shaped Surge Protector with USB Ports (3), Desk Clamp, 6 Outlet, 1080 Joules in White by Alex Rea

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Beware! 3 Units: All switches failed after 3-4 months of daily use

It looked like a good way to do this to have the main switch on top of my desk with all the cables underneath. The clamp was also quite strong. I use it daily to turn off my monitor/computer/speakers to avoid low power consumption. I've used 3 of these surge protectors before and all 3 failed the same way (2 USB-A + USB-C devices and 1 USB-A device). The switch has failed on all my devices - they all started buzzing, crackling or shorting out after about 4-5 months of daily use. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent a replacement after my first purchase. Then the replacement failed the same way a few months later. I then bought a 3rd device because I thought maybe I was just unlucky and it failed just as badly. These things either have really bad quality parts or terrible production/quality control. Despite good customer service (they sent a replacement after my first purchase) I don't want to risk my electronics on this junk.

Pros
  • Desktop power station with clip for desktop power or cabinet wall mount (up to 2.4" thick)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
