I wish they could replace paper towels entirely. nothing will ever happen. While the idea is there, I often think I have an emergency roll of paper towels for the gross messes my animals make. They may be a little braver than me, but I refuse to use them for anything like that. I'd rather just buy a box of dollar laundry than spend $20 on it. They're not much different, expect laundered clothes to be more absorbent as they smear those liquids around until they finally decide to absorb them. The more you use them, the more absorbent they become. I haven't had any of the shrinkage issues that others have mentioned - maybe a half inch or more after the first wash. Personally, I think they actually have their uses, but I'd keep a spare roll of paper towels if you really decide to buy them.
