SimpleConnect Manual

This fan is AMAZING. It looks modern and sleek and is very quiet on all but the highest settings. It is very stable and does not wobble even at the highest settings. With the remote control you can change the direction of the fan in winter. The light is dimmable. It's everything I wanted in a ceiling fan with light and the hardware is fantastic. I read many reviews that said it was very difficult to set up Wi-Fi. That's all true. I installed 4 of these fans and through trial and error found what suits me. I hope these instructions work for you.1. I read online that you need an iPhone/iPad to set it up before using it on an Android device. I'm not sure if that's true as I have an iPhone.2. Download and open the SimpleConnect Wifi app.3. Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network and NOT to a 5GHz WiFi network.4. Make sure the wall switch that supplies power to the fan is on. If your app cannot detect the fan, open the remote battery cover. There is a small area where you can click to pair/reset the Wi-Fi device. Press and hold this "button" until it flashes blue. Relaunch the app and you should now be able to see the fan in your app. Select this "SIMPLEConnect device".5. On the next screen, select the same 2.4GHz WiFi network that your phone is connected to and click Next.6. This next step may take some time (mine took almost a minute). Be patient and wait all the time when the app asks you.7. After connecting the fan to the app, the next screen will show "Setting completeโ€ and click "Finishโ€.8. If you have trouble adjusting the fan, turn the fan's wall switch on/off, reset the fan over Wi-Fi by pressing the pairing/Wi-Fi reset button under the battery cover of the remote control, and try again.9. After successfully setting up the fan, the next screen should show the newly configured and connected fan. If a fan appears, click on the device and follow the instructions. However, no device ever showed up on my phone despite uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times, restarting the device and reconnecting it to the app, so I finally gave up and switched to the Apple HomeKit app. 10. In the Apple Homekit app, click "Add Accessory" and the camera will open.11. Scan the HomeKit installer code that appears on the inside of the remote's battery cover. Mine didn't scan properly and I just had to manually enter the code.12. Select a fan and wait for it to be added. If successful, you should see 2 accessories: a Hunter's Fan and a Hunter's Lantern.13. After the fan has been successfully added to the Homekit, return to the SimpleConnect app. At this point I went to the last screen (from step 9) and still didn't see any devices. I uninstalled and reinstalled the SimpleConnect Wifi app and it prompted me to sign up for a Hunter account. IMPORTANT: Even if you already have a Hunter account, you cannot use that account and will need to go through this registration to set up a separate account through the SimpleConnect Wifi app.14. You will be prompted to enter your email address and password. IMPORTANT: You MUST click on the link sent to your email to verify your account using the SAME iPhone you used to set up the fan, NOT a different computer, or verification will fail.15. Open the SimpleConnect Wifi app, press Home and make sure the fan has a name tile and that name tile CANNOT be circled in RED - this means the fan is not connected.16. If the name tile doesn't appear, HomeKit can still control the fan, but Alexa won't recognize it. You may need to close and reopen the SimpleConnect Wifi app a few times, or uninstall and reinstall the SimpleConnect Wifi app. If that still doesn't work, you may need to repeat the entire process from step 3 to 12.17. If the name tile is circled RED, you may need to remove the fan from the SimpleConnect and Homekit app and repeat steps 3 through 12.18. Once the name tile appears in the SimpleConnect Wifi app, open the Alexa app on the same iPhone and search for the Hunter Fan Alexa Skill. He should find the Hunter - SimpleConnect Smart Ceiling Fan skill. Activate it by logging in with the same Hunter account that you verified in the Hunter app.19. Discover devices now. Alexa needs to find two new smart home devices: a fan and a fan.20. CONGRATULATIONS! You've finally successfully set up Alexa to control your fan and lights. Additional Notes: In the SimpleConnect Wifi app, click on the tile with your fan's name and go to Settings - the gear icon. From here you have the option to turn on the light dimming feature and turn off the feedback beep. You can change the fan rotation direction in three different ways.1. You can switch between summer and winter mode in the Hunter app settings.2. You can press the back button just below the fan icon in the Hunter app (this is only tested on iOS, not sure if it's the same for Android devices).3. You can press and hold the fan button on the Hunter remote for a few seconds.
