This gauge works by pressing an inductive sensor against a surface. The problem is that there are four cloth legs that keep this surface off target. I could only get him to measure things and pin him against that wall with a lot of pressure about 10% of the time. After removing those legs I got a bit lucky. Part of this may be because the wall isn't straight, but that's the way the world is and a useful meter will take that into account. This is especially important as you may want to test a very specific part of the wall.
