I used this to keep my smartphone (with the GPS timer app running) in the race car and it was stuck to the windshield all day. In fact, it's still stuck to my windshield and it's been almost a month. If you actually read the instructions that came with the product, you will see a small button next to the suction cup that you need to press all the way down to activate the "suction". The handle snaps into place and stays in place. When you do this, the mount really sticks to the windshield. You can't even pull it out by pulling on it.
