I had this piece a total of 5 minutes before it broke. I bought it for my boat. It's a bit smaller than I thought but I think it's ok for the size of the tower. I'll never know because when I tried to unscrew it (both sides, neither moved) the opal end broke off. Nothing. Then I looked at the questions and one person said that the opal part unscrews so I kept trying. NO, it just broke right away. Only the gold end is unscrewed, which finally gave up after the other end broke off. Should have read the reviews before buying as some have said. stupid of me Very annoying because if I could take the gold end off first that would be perfect. Please label your product more conveniently!
