The vacuum pump burned out after 20 minutes of operation

Correct amount of oil refilled in the vacuum pump, which can be seen on the sight glass, connected to my can, pulled a vacuum for 20 minutes, saw smoke from the cables and the motor was shut hot to touch. I've been waiting for a long time now over a month so I can't return it. It's too small for a boat anchor, maybe a big doorstop? I could make a video but I don't want to start a fire, the smell and breath from burning insulation is unhealthy.
