Review on Bookshelf speaker system DALI SPEKTOR 1 2 speakers white by Micha Zikowski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A completely ordinary product, nothing remarkable.

Recently, we have gotten into the habit of watching movies in the evenings, when it is supposed not to cause inconvenience to neighbors in the form of loud sounds. And my speakers, which I use for music, have a very good sensitivity, and even a double equalization pass in the video player does not help - it still rumbles on the special effects in the room, and there is no escape from this, except to turn down the volume so that the conversations of the characters are barely audible , and even that is not a fact that will help. It was decided to buy small speakers especially for watching movies in the evenings, because their small speakers should not rumble like that, because there is nothing. Ordered after reading good reviews. It turned out that with all the mediocre sound, Dali manage to rumble in special effects! From the point of view of solving the problem, there are obvious advances, because equalization is already acting on them! Probably, it's even for the best that initially the nature of the sound of the speakers requires the use of software equalization for especially explosive effects, because. otherwise it would mean that in music they would have no bottoms at all. On the other hand, perhaps it was the manufacturer's attempt to give birth to a certain bass effect in such a small case that led to the fact that their natural range suffered, turned out to be crumpled and rotten. Stretched overtones of low frequencies did not give the speakers normal bass, but they tormented the middle, as a result, the ears wither. I can only tolerate them for movies in the evenings. Therefore, I leave them for the role of night scoring of films. For there is no desire to even look at them, for example, vidos on YouTube, at least the naturalness of the voices of the presenters is not enough, the voices are rotten. PS: after the negative from people unfamiliar with good sounding rained down on me, I dug up on the Internet a frequency response measurement from a foreign reviewer, and I will say that this measurement correlates VERY WELL with what the ears of someone who is familiar with the concept hear quality sound. They chirp (many take it for detail), the vocals are failed, there are no bottoms.

Pros
  • + dimensions + beautifully made + strangely enough, they turned out to have much more bottoms than one would expect based on the size, especially the diameter of the speaker When I turned it up louder, I was even surprised. The bass in the room is decent! Yes, it is not full-fledged and its quality for a sophisticated ear cannot be satisfactory, sufficient for enjoying a low register, but at a certain volume level, at least one can speak of a certain sufficient amount of low frequencies. Or rather, overtones that allow you to feel the illusion of a sufficient amount of low frequencies, but nevertheless, you do not expect such a quantity from such compact speakers, and in this vein it can even be called sufficient. + they are quite well suited for the role of watching movies, they were bought for this, but still the manufacturer positions them as full-fledged shelf speakers for music, therefore, based on their sound, I don’t have the conscience to rate them above the top three, given their price. Probably something much cheaper plays even worse, it's hard for me to judge, because. I haven’t listened to this for a long time (like all sorts of active 2.0 computer speakers there, also made of MDF, i. E. similar solutions from non-famous brands at a price 3 times less). But here people are seriously praising this model as something wonderful and even revealing the nuances of audio cards. So no, and don't expect it. It's all nonsense. Of course, they have their own niche, their own target audience, their purpose, application, etc. But it is absolutely impossible to praise them as giving a full-fledged sound. And it's not just the bottom. I would not take them to listen to music even in conjunction with a subwoofer. Because for music they are clearly rustic and deaf sound. Yes, and for cinema - with the proviso that this cinema also has a special task. I will discuss this issue below. However, I wonder how people manage to hear in them similarities with the Beyerdynamic 770. Nothing in common! Bayers - excellent sound, high resolution of the middle, bright, and only lows are not enough, but these lows do not hum.
Cons
  • - not suitable for listening to music - in terms of price / opportunity ratio, in my opinion, they are EXTREMELY overpriced Their sound is flat, boring, crumpled. The top can be considered normal, but the middle is strangled and retracted. I call such a middle "like from a shell", i. E. the vocalist speaks as if from a saucepan, somewhere on the sidelines. The vocalist's voice is not revealed, it is echo-like. This is what a horn speaker sounds like. The bass, of course, cannot be full at such sizes. And of course, in order to detect it in the overall sound picture, you will have to swing them louder, because. Their sensitivity, alas, is quite low to everything else. And even if it were high, then for the appearance of bass, you still need to add volume decently on such small speakers, only there it will appear. It will even be enough in some way, but of course in small rooms and, I repeat, at above average volumes and certainly not in all tracks. Only this bass is strained, unnatural, and it seems to me that it was the attempt to pull it on these kids that ruined the middle. Given the fact that I call my main speakers calm, moderate in brightness, the first sounds that came from Dali upset me. It was a video clip on YouTube, and the host, who had previously listened quite normally on my main ones, now became "deaf-speaking". In general, this is not so noticeable in films, because it is unlikely that you will play the film on different speakers, comparing the sound. And if you just run it for viewing, then the voices will be heard for you for the first time, and therefore you can not suspect a dirty trick. What do we have as a result in the cinema (after we realized that music is not their forte)? Alas, even cinema is not their forte. Of course, I will leave them to myself, because my task was too specific for them initially. After all, during the day I can watch movies at any volume on my main ones, enjoying the sound. If I wanted single speakers for movies only, they would NOT be the Dali Spektor 1.
