Test your fridge and freezer at the same time or do a direct comparison.
This tool saved me from time pressure and mental gymnastics. Part of the fridge freezer didn't work for temperature control but was variable. The mechanic says everything is fine when he shows up and tests. I know I get melted ice sometimes but he says it seems to work. I've used this to confirm temperature swings of up to 45 degrees, apparently in a defrost sequence, got a new fridge and confirmed the evolving temperature profile. This indicated that I needed new data in addition to crystallized ice.
