Long-time electric blanket user using a heating pad for the first time. The heated mattress topper is great! The heating pad is installed on the mattress, then a standard mattress pad is applied to the heating pad, then a sheet is applied to the standard mattress pad: mattress, heating pad, mattress pad, sheet. When one side is on and the other is off: one side of the pillow gets warm and the other side of the lining stays cold. Heat does not "leak" through the elements from side to side.
