Extremely high UVB output is potentially dangerous

Finding a UVB lamp with minimal UVB output is always a challenge for reptile owners - this lamp is actually at the other end of the spectrum. My UVB lamps are performance tested by my veterinarian. I bought this lamp for my Savannah monitor which is 10-30 inches from its UV lamp. The lamp measured 10x the required UVB output for both my Savannah monitor and Chuckwalla. This can quickly lead to health problems and be extremely harmful. Keep in mind that this high UVB output means other UV rays are at higher levels too. Based on the UVB output my vet has measured on SEVERAL lamps I brought with me, this lamp may work if the lamp is very far from the light source. bathing reptile. So at least four meters. Thanks to the brand for making a UVB lamp that actually gives decent readings. Unfortunately, based on my experiences with the vet and my reptiles' response to the bulbs, I do not think they are safe or appropriate for your standard reptile habitat. I have had reptiles for over 12 years so this is from someone with experience. and lots of care for all kinds of reptiles. Hope that helps!
