The scale is wide, 2 inches wider than the old junk we have. I weighed 450, two months later I already weigh 420. 2 inches makes it comfortable for tall guys. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews that said it wasn't wide enough, but I think it's very wide. This scale has weight, it's not like most junk plastic parts, there's enough metal. This scale, when you pick it up you will be amazed at the weight, it feels solid. My exact daily weight has allowed me to lose 30 pounds in 2 months and I don't feel hungry, hungry or cheated. Knowing my exact weight inspired me to eat smaller portions and make better choices. If in doubt, just take this one, I've looked at 20 different scales and I'm completely satisfied with this one. Just use your foot to push a little to turn it on, it will display C for 1 second while it calibrates, then step on it and it will weigh in about four seconds. I put a piece of tape on the bottom of the battery compartment to keep the batteries inside. They fell out one day when I pulled the scale from under the bed to use it.
