Assembly was easy. Everything came in a box, there were other parts in the kit. I put adult men's shoes on the top 2 shelves and children's shoes on the next 3 shelves from the bottom. I stored a few rolls of paper towels on 2 shelves below and the remaining shelves (3) were empty. The next morning I found the shoe rack toppled and slammed at the bottom. The handles are metal and seem solid BUT the connectors are cheap plastic. Picking up a mountain of shoes and paper towels, I noticed that several parts of the connector were bent/broken. I had high hopes but unfortunately it won't work. If this is mostly happening with children's shoes and only 7 out of 10 shelves are being used, imagine them being completely full. I'll go back and look for a better all-metal version.
