I put this in the freezer overnight and when I took it out of the freezer it didn't look like it had soaked up much cold? But it's just an outer material that feels like "suede" and is very soft and IMO repels the cold until you pinch the sleeve to the finger you need it on. Then it gets very cold! But be careful because if you have an injury or your inflammation is also causing pain, don't pull it out too aggressively as this may cause additional pain at first. I would say the only problem I didn't give 5 stars is that the velcro doesn't "stick" really well to this suede-like material. But it works.
