Review on πŸ”Œ Metra 70-5511: The Ultimate Wiring Harness for FD Amp Integration System by Avishai Menon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installed in a 1995 Mustang GT, no Mach upgrade

It worked great in a Mustang, although Revain's website says it won't fit a 1995 Mustang. The Mustang has a power amp under the CD player that is separate from the radio and cassette players. After installation, the speakers on the right side did not work. Metra told me that some new head units don't work properly with older amps. I tested the amp by reinstalling the old blocks and they correctly drove the existing amp. I ordered a Metra 70-5513 radio wire harness for a Ford amp rectifier connector and removed the wire connector from the back of the old amp, plugged it into the larger side of 70-5513 and cut the smaller connector off 70-5513. (which doesn't fit anywhere else in the car) and hardwired those 8 speaker wires to a new head unit that bypassed the old amp and every speaker works. If you're using the 70-5513, you don't need the 70-5511's square black connector that connects the new head unit to the wires to the amplifier because you're bypassing it. You simply use the rectangular gray connector to connect to the car's existing wiring harness.

Pros
  • Connects to the car's power harness and preamp
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
