I'm 39 years old and have been collecting spooky and skeletal toys for the last ten years and rediscovered the joy of Lego when sets were released that finally ventured into yours truly traditional taste. Finally, my unfulfilled childhood toy wish came true: not just a Lego castle, but a vampire castle, which I combined with related sets and surrounded by Lego graveyards. Unfortunately, Lego genres don't always last long, but that's when off-brand building block systems come into play. The more versatile, the more likely they are to have noticeable compatibility deficiencies. Here Mega Construx (from Megablox) seems to be second only to Lego. Interesting genres that are sometimes too mature for Lego, or benefit from more realistic character design (since Lego abstracts each character into the basic Lego human form). Coincidentally, I had a Castle of the Grayskull playset as a kid, but one day I threw it away in an act of youthful teenage childhood denial. I think I need more storage space than cool heirlooms from my youth. So when I saw Mega Construx Castle Grayskull it was the perfect way to refresh my missing nostalgia. I wouldn't use the original lock except for a display that would take up a lot of shelf space. But in the form of a building block system, it becomes multifaceted entertainment and a more entertaining, rewarding and compact shelf dweller. What impresses me the most is that it's also a worthy and accurate homage to the original: every original detail I can remember is reflected in the sculpted form of the castle walls, spelled out by MegaConstrux; Instead of a floor sticker showing a dungeon, the dungeon is a four-walled cage with a barred door. The throne also activates the hatch, just like in the original. Windows are rendered as real windows, not as casts in a molded plastic wall. The roofs are brown with shingles, not just green plastic in one piece. The drawbridge's teeth remind me eerily of the original, but the details on the outside of the bridge have been turned into actual tools. There is a working elevator that is similar to the original. The ladder, the weapon racks, and the spinning (God knows why) things look just like the ones I remember, only they're made out of brick now. Also, the set adds things that the gray skull of the 80's never had: secret passages, rooms for magic, technologies and the like, befitting the MoTU universe. of which every day for 2 weeks. I'm in no rush to build it, taking my time and pushing myself to the point where I start to burn, which is possibly the only thing that has 2 sword blades: unlike Lego, which builds high walls, usually with many plates. , this Mega Construx set meticulously builds each wall from individual bricks. Unprecedented details. however, working on a tall tower wall can become monotonous. But like I said, I rest when I'm burned out and then the next day when I'm fresh I have more to play with. Another great thing is that Construx Blox figures are usually interchangeable. So if I take the Halo Bug's wings and add them to Skeletor along with his goat skull instead of his staff's head, I get a magical goat skeleton fairy. Or replace the He-Man's left hand with the Alien's hand to get the 9th He-Man Division. The possibilities with bricks are endless. And Mega Construx is cross-compatible with Lego. Even if their fit can be a few microns less precise, they still hold together well, usually very tightly. Overall 4.5 stars
