HomeKit Installation Guide - Decent filter, junk HomeKit implementation

As a set and forget filter, this Smartmi air purifier works well. Place it in a central spot in the room and turn on the "automatic" mode and it will increase and decrease according to the detected changes in air purity. When you're cooking something as simple as pancakes in the next room, the fan ramps up its power and starts cleaning the air until it's clean, while remaining quieter than any of our units. Now, the bad news is that the filter only has a 2.4GHz WiFi radio. So if you're in a modern home with a dual-band router, it's going to be very difficult to connect your device to HomeKit. Part of the problem is that Apple products tend to use a better wireless connection by default, which is often 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz, meaning your iPhone or iPad cannot even see the Smartmi around the initial ones to make settings. If you have a modern mesh network routing system, it's even harder to connect to Smartmi as the networks often work under the same broadcast SSID. and I can constantly have trouble staying in touch. What worked for me: 1. Download the smartmi app on your mobile device2. Turn off Wi-Fi on your mobile device. 3. Turn off 5GHz or stop broadcasting the SSID on your wireless router (and wait for it to be applied). Turn Wi-Fi back on on your mobile device (At this point you should be connecting to a 2.4GHz network5. Follow the instructions in the Smartmi app to connect to Smartmi6. Enter the SSID 2.4GHz network and Wi-Fi password a Smartmi app to connect Smartmi to your network 7. After successful connection, open HomeKit, add an accessory and use the camera to view the HomeKit -Capture QRC code on the bottom of the device 8. After successfully connecting to the HomeKit network, go back to the router and turn your 5GHz network back on and pass SSID 5GHz.9.Check Check all devices in your home to make sure they have reconnected successfully.Note: If your home network does not connect 5G and 2.4G networks, you will keep losing connection to Smartmi when your devices switch between them This is a design flaws and d no problem with HomeKit.
